I don't know if this qualifies as an actual cover but it's my blog so I can post it regardless if it is or not. In tribute to Ray Manzarek, keyboardist and co-founding member of the 60's L.A. band The Doors, I decided to post of video of their 1993 induction ceremony into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
The video is of the three remaining Doors members preforming Break On Through featuring Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots on vocals. Even though it's pretty hard for anyone to replicate the raw energy of Jim Morrison, Scott Weiland did a good job. He didn't try to embody a Morrison performance, it was almost as if Weiland had a similar performance attitude as Morrison. In which case, it didn't come off as showboating or "trying to hard" to be Jim Morrison.
All in all, it is a really great video of the remaining Doors members coming together again and playing like the ol' days. Enjoy!
